Rarawa - Camp Information Sheet (PDF)

Rarawa is a significant Ngāti Kuri cultural site. Please respect this area that we have the privilege of sharing with you. Camp managers retain the discretion to remove any camper or group they feel has not behaved appropriately. In such a case, no refund will be given.

Health and Safety

- First aid kits are available at the Camp Manager’s Office and trained first aiders will be onsite during the peak season.

- Water must be boiled before drinking.

- Open fires are not permitted in the camp or reserve.

- Fireworks and sky lanterns are absolutely prohibited.

- To avoid the spread of fire, ensure a 3-metre clear space between camps or groups of campers.

- Children are to be supervised at all times, especially around water.

- Please observe the 10 kmph speed limit within the camp and parking areas.

- Pay attention to signage and the camp managers instructions.

Conduct

- Behaviour which is considered unacceptable by the camp manager (nudity, violence, excessive noise, failure to follow camp rules etc.) may result in removal of those involved.

- Serious misconduct will be reported to the police.

Noise and Equipment

- Please be considerate of other campers.

- Between 10 pm and 7 am, noise levels must be kept to a minimum.

- No generators, compressors, chainsaws, or other loud equipment may be used in the camp or reserve.

Animals

- No dogs or other domestic animals are permitted in the camp or reserve except registered guide dogs. This includes cats and caged birds.

Rubbish and Recycling

-During the peak season, rubbish bags can be purchased from the camp managers.

- Please use the recycling stations provided.

- Dispose of food scraps in the buckets provided.

Environmental

- Please conserve water.

- Do not wash dishes at water points (wash at you camp and dispose of water in the bush).

- All vegetation in the reserve is protected.

- Sand dunes are sensitive natural areas. Please minimise your impact on these areas by using walking tracks and avoiding disturbance.
